Seattle Music Insider was founded in 2009 by Greg Roth. SMI is an online magazine featuring news and information focusing on established and emerging artists who represent a variety of genres of music.

Greg, who is also serves as SMI’s Creative Director, is unique in the world of music journalism. Not only is he a multi-media journalist, he is also an accomplished musician. He also drives the creative look, feel and branding for SMI. His years of writing, arranging, and performing live music in a variety of genres inform his ability to communicate the message and the mechanics of music.

Greg hosts a weekly internet radio magazine show called SMI Radio. It features in-depth interviews and music from a variety of artists. SMI Radio streams on several internet radio stations and can be heard on multiple platforms, such as iTunes, SoundCloud, TuneIn Radio, Stitcher Radio, and Podcast Machine. Also Roth can be heard weekly on NWCZ Radio

SMI has several contributors with various journalism and music backgrounds who cover artists appearing at various venues around the Northwest. SMI’s content includes live reviews, new music previews, artist spotlights, artist and venue features, new music previews and live previews, as well as exclusive artist interviews. In addition, several photographers provide content for rich photo slideshows that accompany a majority of our live reviews.

Besides covering shows around the region, they have covered major Northwest festivals such as Bumbershoot, Sasquatch, Capitol Hill Block Party, Summer Metldown, Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, Chinook Fest, 107.7 The End “Summer Camp” Central Washington State Fair,  KISW Pain in GrassTimber! Outdoor Music Festival and Timbrrr! Winter Music Festival.
